When looking around at the world, it is easy to see everything changing for the worse. Greed, hate, war, climate disaster. Yet, through Ovid's Metamorphoses, Zimmerman weaves together tales that remind us that all things change. And that love has the power to change us for the better.
This ensemble took the roots of Ovid, the structure of Zimmerman, and inspiration from Stephanie McCarter's 2022 translation to devise the original music you will hear throughout the performance. Metamorphoses asks us to reflect on how we relate to others, the value we place on our relationships, and whether or not we allow love and its power to transform to manifest fully in our lives.
